Who we are . . .

Susan Mohler... I am the third generation in my family to have actively shown and bred top quality purebred dogs.

I have always loved dogs but this breed is simply the BEST!  I am so proud to be a steward of such wonderful little dogs.

Through hours of pedigree research and reading I have brought specific Cresteds together and have achieved the "look" of XO dogs which is apparent even though their pedigrees are different.  Our goal is for continuing consistency and constant improvement.

Don Mohler... I have been married to Susan, for more than 30 years. It has been quite the journey.

I have driven through blizzards to visit a stud dog because it was "time"... Many nights have been spent waiting for the first "real"; contraction. And then my favourite part begins: PUPPIES! They are my reward for all that came before and I have spent many, many happy hours playing with these wonderful little beings.

I also enjoy meeting the interesting people who have come into our lives all because of our Cresteds! And on a final note I will let you know one of the most important lessons I have learned . . . The most valuable tool you can have is a good "Pooper Scooper".

XO Philosophy

We strive to breed Cresteds who are healthy and sound in body and mind.

We breed strictly to achieve the next exceptional generation of XO Chinese Cresteds!

Health Testing

We are proud to display the Crested Health "We Cerf"  logo.   All our dogs are  examined annually by a  veterinary opthalmologist. This is known as "Cerfing" your dogs.

It is  very important   if you are considering acquiring a Crested puppy that the parents have had regular CERF exam.   If you are considering an older puppy or adult the dog should have had their own exam.

We are pleased that  the XO Cresteds we have tested are clear for PRCD.

Any other dogs we have bred or own are clear by default for PRCD as well.

We  have our dogs checked by an orthopedic specialist to ensure the dogs patellas are tight and we have a cardiac specialist check all our dogs for healthy hearts.

Continuing our commitment to breed the healthiest, soundest dogs possible we are also testing for PLL. To date, all XO Cresteds are clear for PLL either directly or by default.

When new tests are available you can count on XO Cresteds to utilize the latest proven  technology which will allow us to continue to produce not only dogs with superb confirmation,  but also dogs who will be free of as many known inheritable defects as possible.

If you contact us for a Crested and we don't have one available at the time you are invited to join our waiting list. 

We are not volume breeders. We breed only when we want a dog for ourselves to show and add new lines to our breeding programme.

If you want a puppy before our litter will be ready, we  are happy to help you find that special addition to your family.  We will gladly refer you to a reputable breeder.

If you get your Crested from someone else and  have questions or need advice, we are here and welcome all inquiries about  the Chinese Crested.

We believe we are stewards of this wonderful breed and we are here to help.

Should you want a show dog please know that we really do make our best Cresteds available to serious Show Homes. 

If you want just that "someone special" to spend your life with please be aware that all our pets are sold on spay/neuter agreements.

We also require that  during the life of your Crested, show or pet, if you are unable to care for your pet or need to rehome your Crested they are required to be returned to us regardless of age or condition of health.

If we bred them then we believe we alone are responsible for that life as long as they are with us on this Earth. If circumstances change and one of ours is needing to be rehomed, they ALWAYS have a place waiting with us at  XO Cresteds.
